Physical and chemical properties:

4101 is an amorphous, hydrolytically stable butyltin chloride dihydroxide. It can be used in esterification, polycondensation and transesterification reactions. The catalyst is used in the synthesis of saturated polyester resins for powder coatings.

4101 is used in the production of unsaturated polyester resins for gelcoat, sheet forming and cast molding applications. The temperature range at which esters and antioxidants are formed in the transesterification reaction is 140-180°C.

The same temperature is required to produce PBT engineering resins for the automotive and construction markets. It provides shorter esterification time, transesterification cycle time, lower reaction temperature and efficient use of equipment.
